|Description:||We are always interested to hear from freelance electricians, Entertainment engineers and technicians. We like personable people, who can negotiate with customers as easily as they can wire a plug. Your own reliable transport is essential and a passport (together with a willingness to fly overseas at short notice) is very useful. We have a variety of work to offer:
SITE ENGINEERS: a major part of our work is the installation of permanent Entertainment Audio, AV, Curtaining, Lighting and Stage Engineering facilities. For this, we are always in need of highly competent electricians, sound and lighting engineers and riggers. Relevant qualifications and certificates - such as CSCS, IPAF and PASMA - are always exceedingly useful. If you would like to work as one of our electricians, you'll need to have passed C&G 236, 2360 or 2330 - with Parts 1 and 2 in all cases. You'll also need to be up-to-date on the IEE 17th edition.
Just starting out? We often have need of installation assistants.
MAINTENANCE: As you'll see from our Portfolio section, we look after a large number of systems on rolling-maintenance programmes. We also undertake ad-hoc service and repair visits to all manner of venues. Recent examples include a school in Wiltshire, a holiday park in Essex and a cruise ship in Singapore docks. We require engineers who are able to tackle jobs as diverse as installing a new hard drive into a Grand MA, updating the software on a Yamaha PM1D, replacing a fader on a school's audio mixer or fitting a new driver into a loudspeaker.
PRODUCTION - from time-to-time, we require sound engineers to run shows for us at various venues dotted all over the UK. If you're a good sound & lighting engineer, with a proven track-record, we'd be very interested to talk to you.
INSURANCE - to work as a TEDAV freelance engineer or technician, you must have valid Public Liability Insurance cover for a minimum of £2 million. This cover will cost you approximately £180 to £200 per annum and we can give you guidance to find a suitable broker, if you're new to the business.
